sitting man

Woodcut print, ca. 1938-1940, rendered when Flora lived in Cincinnati and was working with Robert Lowry producing Little Man Press publications. Title, edition run, and location of original block unknown. The print was discovered in the estate of a Cincinnati collector who passed away at age 93 several months ago. The collection included about a dozen vintage Flora prints, most previously unseen by us. We'll publish others soon.

What a find! A wonderful image. Looks like it is in reasonable condition too, happily?

The prints procured from this estate were in mixed condition. This one was excellent. Others had water stains, smudges, and folds. The images, however, were solid, and after scanning and digital cleanup, will reproduce nicely.

I envy you the task of researching, restoring and reproducing them. Hard work but HEAVEN!

Are you going to share with us the story of how you stumbled onto this new treasure trove? :)

Ebay — a local dealer purchased them (and works by other illustrators) in bulk at the estate sale. Of the eight Flora works we acquired, we'd never seen seven. I'll post another later today.
